What is the key (most important) conflict in the story? Why do you think so?

I think that the most important conflict in the story is the relation with the Americans and what I mean by that is the wive feels that her husband is not paying any attendtion to her. She feel that he is more intersted with lying in bed and reading his book then his acknowledging wife.

In the exterior aspect, the key conflict in the story is about the wife desires for some material possessions, whereas her husband doesn’t care about it. However, through the appearance, the story reveals the most conflict is about marital stereotype. In the story, the husband doesn’t seem perceptive to his wife’s needs, he remains focus on his "reading"; the wife only uses her “greed” to attract her husband’s attention, she continuances to “want” something . This is most of us marriage’s vivid portraiture. The story reminds us to think about how to keep our marriage for long.

The key conflict is the poor relationship between George and his wife. George's wife uses "I want" many times to express her deep strong desire but George doesn't feel it at all. He keeps on "reading on the bed" and later even says, "shut up." Finally his wife only "looks out of the window" again because of disappointment. The conflict still exists.
