I read two or three poems weekly and own more than 20 volumes of poetry. Often, poems speak more directly to my heart than stories do. I’ve written some good poems and encourage students by showing them good, modern poems and having them write one each term.

My experience with poetry has been long lasting and beautiful. I say this because as a singer I view poetry as a way to word song in an everlasting form. it is also a form or encouragement to motivate students in elegant forms of wording by lifting up their spirits in spoken song.

-My first experience of poem:

To tell you the truth, I’ve always thought that to read a poem means either you’re old and nothing to do or you have to do it because it’s schoolwork. I’ve always thought that was boring thing to do, until I’ve approached poems called “one inch tall,” and “A Note.”

Most Chinese children are asked to recited more than one hundred poems in ancient Chinese style even though they don’t understand the meaning and subtleness of these poems completely at that ages. When we grew up, we realized that the poem is a good way to communicate by the short famous sentences, which a lot of people can learn them by heart. It gives a great surprise that there are so many common places between two kinds of poems when I learned “Lucy Gray” and “Mother to Son” in the class of Communication 12.

Poetry is one of the best ways to express your soul and thoughts by making readers meditate on the meaning of written words. My experience with Poetry mostly consists of Russian Poetry which I studied in school and recited to the audience. Currently I do not pay a lot of attention to Poetry; however, according to Brad’s comment I will have to focus on it soon.

In China, poem is usually associated with painting and we always "sing" a poem. I could recite hundreds of ancient Chinese poems when I was a teenager. They are normally short but enriched and with endless aftertaste. I hope that I can comprehend the exquisiteness and delicateness of English poems soon.

I truly believe that poetry is the best words in the best order. Poetry is able to tell one’s loves, thoughts, fears, uncertainties, and doubts. I have never written the poems and have read them very rarely, but when I am in a bad mood, I like to listen to somebody who recites them from his or her heart.

“Do you like poetry?” a friend of mine unexpectedly asked me a week ago. “No.” Trying to change my mind, he started to recite poems, Russian poets and his own. In spite of his expressive and artistry, I remained of the same mind. Poems have not deeply touched my heart and soul.

I had been brought up listening tales in verse before I fell asleep. During the school I studied Russian poetry and discovered how beautiful and rich it is, how much it can say when each word worth its weight in gold. I read much more than required, memorizing the best.

My experience with poetry has always been a love hate experience. Some poems are easy to understand and tell you something you did not know about your soul. Some poems are difficult to translate and leave you empty with no answers. I suppose it depends on your mood and your openness to understand. I have recently read the book “Celebrations” by Maya Angelou and she writes with such grace and poise, that I can appreciate her work with openness.

Poetry can be about anything! I enjoy reading poems and respect every writer's emotions through poetry. I like writing about my Life experiences. There's a lot to share about your everyday lifestyle. It doesn't always have to rhyme. Whenever I write my poems, I focus in what I know and feel. If, I want to make it more exciting, I add my five senses into the poem I construct in depth and honesty.

Poetry is an art that comes in many forms. Many people criticize poetry by saying it is boring. Though, I have not read many poems, most of us listen to music and that is a form of poetry. A lot of the music we listen to is about thoughts and emotion. However, there are some songs in which the lyrics do not have much meaning. Overall, my experience with poetry has mostly been with music because it is something I enjoy.

I got the chance to read a few poems in my previous English class. It was interesting to see this wonderful peace of art where writers express their ideas from what they feel or see by something that surrounds them. I became inspired and had the opportunity to write a poem using a format that the teacher gave us. – 59 words.

My experience with poetry is becoming better day by day. I was not very good in poems; they were like a puzzle. I would never imagine that I can write a poem until I wrote “A Note” and “I prefer.” I am surprised as well as happy when both poems turned out very well.

As my experience, I enjoy poems when they are read out loud by poets. So sometimes I read poetry when I enjoy the moment of inner peace. When I read poetry aloud, I love it more because I get to hear and feel it, especially when I feel it in a fully and sensory way. - 55words

My main experiences with poetry are going back to my youth days. Since Farsi is my native language, I loved Farsi classic poems, though occasionally I admired contemporary poems too. Rumi and Ferdowsy are my main idols, the first one for depicting logic, and rationality, and the other for picturing bravery, and love, in their eternal masterpieces.

We use to memorize famous poems and say it out loud to the whole class back in my home country. I was always ready to say it because I loved reading poems. They were beautiful like a song and meaningful. I even compose my own poems in my first language. However, nowadays I lost interest reading poems, maybe because of the language.

Talking about poetry reminds me more about the time when I was a teenager. I use to write poems to my girl friends and to my mother on her birthday. I was very shy and writing poems was the only way I could express myself from the bottom of my heart.

In the past, in the present, and in the future, poetry is everywhere. From Tupac to Shakespere, I find that we are all influenced by it- whether it be lyrical or from a haiku. Something about poetry most of us find a way to appreciate it, as it takes many forms.

Writing poetry is a creative way of illustrating one’s emotion and ideas. Like composing a song, poetry writing turns a piece of writing into an art piece. One of the difficulties that I face when it comes to writing poetry is that I struggle to apply the rules and formats. I look to improving my poetry skills during and after this unit. -62words

Poetry
I always hesitate when it comes to poetry. The figurative languages used in poetry makes the words independent of their meaning. Sometimes reading one stanza twice is not enough when it leaves me feeling clueless about the real meaning. However, I enjoy reading poetry because it needs abstract thinking to find out about some of the possible interpretations.

I haven’t read a poem for a long time. Yet, there was one written in our language that I remember because we are required to memorize and to recite it in the class. Poems are hard to discern the writer’s message. What I am sure is it is full of emotions by which some people give a poem to their loved ones to be able to express their feelings.

My experiences with poetry have been very influential. In the beginning of the semester we had to write here I am poems, and then write our favorite things about each person. I really liked what Albert said, “look at life, and realize that the lake can hold a lot no matter it is large or small”. I felt it had a lot of influence on me, made me look at life as I can do anything if I just hold on to my dreams!

I honestly was not interested in poetry, for I had to memorize very long ancient poems that were not easy to understand, and sometimes I could not pronounce it correctly in elementary school. After I read a stanza of Hafez, my favorite poet, fifteen years ago for first time, I usually read it every night.

I find it very hard to write a poem. To write poetry you need a great inspiration. To me poetry speaks in another language, I enjoy reading poems, and understanding it. Every poem I read tells a story to me.

My first experience with poetry,
Was that which I’d heard in the nursery.
Often my nana would sing me to sleep,
An opera for me forever to keep.
And as I grew older I wrote poems of my own,
Words in my head now set in stone .

Some people my enjoy to read and write poetry but to be honest i do not. The only time i have had to read or written it, is in high school. I do not understand it very well. And personally for me to try to do so is mind boggling. Maybe it is because i have never gave it an honest try or maybe because it has never had a personal effect of me. But personally it is not something i like to spend my time on.
