Videos from the Presidential Campaign (Finding Persuasive Techniques)

You could spend your whole time watching videos at these two sites. It shouldn't be too hard to find examples of the persuasive techniques from your handout. In fact, most of the videos use more than one!

Presidential General Election Ads: Obama vs. McCain
Note that the list of videos has a scroll bar on the right side of the box for viewing even more. If you find a video you'd like to share, make a comment to this post and give the video title so we can view it also.

I like John McCain's ad from October 16 called "Joe the Plumber." Plain Folks technique for sure. Note that McCain is married to a multi-millionaire wife and is certainly not in the same social class as Joe!

To do a post, find the "new post" button on the top right of the main blogger page. Make sure you give a good title to your post and then write in the box that appears. It works very much like email.

Yes, America needs to change. And the presidential election today will clear up the sky that which way they’ve chosen to change. As we can found tons of speech or articles from both candidates that assure or persuade people that he is the right leader. I found one strong example from http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/2008/10/12/2008-10-12_barack_obama_tells_daily_news_how_hed_le.html that it also contents many techniques in persuading. Such as: Scapegoating & Name Calling--that in this article, Mr. Obama mentioned that” Americans can't afford four more years that look exactly like the last eight. We've seen where that's led us, and we're not going back.” He indicated out what the problems have happened and whose responsibilities are. I also found another persuading techniques is simple solutions that Mr. Obama promised “To grow our economy from the bottom up, we need a tax code that doesn't just work for the folks at the top. And, I want to give a middle class tax cut to 95% of all workers and their families,”
