My friend John had a profound influence on my life. When we met, he was already a father and encouraged me to have children (which I did, eventually). For eleven seasons, we hiked together in the alpine regions of British Columbia, almost always off trail. With him I saw more, experienced more than I would ever have done on my own. He lived life as fully as it is possible to live but, sadly, he died at age 48 of cancer. What he built in the short time he had still influences my life, and his attitude that life is short and that we need to live every day to the fullest remains with me, even though he passed away 12 years ago this past January. I look forward to bringing him to life for you during the writing of our narrative essays.—143 words

My second mother, more commonly known as my older sister. You can say we grew up together, but because of our age gap, I was doing the growing and she was just guiding me along. We did everything together. We even shared a room! Being the oldest in the family, she took on responsibilities well beyond her abilities at a young age. She never complained and always did it well. Even though with all the chaos that was always happening at home, she excelled in school and was able to receive scholarships for university. She was always thinking about the well-being of our family. In my narrative essay, I would love to share a few particular stories as to why my sister is referred to as my second mother.

My uncle Vandi had a deep influence on my life. When I went to stay with him, he was already a physical education teacher. As a coach he taught me how to play soccer and took me to practice every day. He treated me as his own son by sending me to private school . He was always there for me when I needed him and encouraged me to do well in school and have a college degree ( which I'm working on now ) He lived life as simple as it is possible to live and never took life too serious . His laughter and simplicity still influences my life and his saying " keep it simple " will always remains with me every where I go. I look forward to
share this story in my narrative essays .

My cousin, Valeria, had a significant influence on my life. She has always treated me as a young brother because of 14-year distance between us. In spite of our seldom meetings, she has lived 5000 miles away from my home, she patronized me trying to impose her own values and beliefs on me. For example, my cousin opened for me the door in modern art. Also, she helped me to switch my mind toward business and organize my own firm. Thinking about my narrative essay has forced me to memorize my youth, and people helping me to became a person who I am now. Writing the essay, I would like to pay tribute to my cousin for all her love and attention to me.

My cousin Saied changed my vision of living, and he was the person who showed me how to become cool. Saied was about 3 or 4 years older than me, and I knew him almost all my life; I used to admire his coolness. Saied, the well-dressed, tall skinny guy with curly hair, was like a star at weddings (since we didn’t have night-clubs and bars in Iran, weddings were the places where you could really tell who was cool and who was not). His “amazing” concept of life became a way of living for me, until July 2011 when I woke up. I’m excited to tell you more about Saied and how he a had big influence on my life.126 words

In today’s world, single parent is not an extraordinary occurrence, but it is an unbelievable challenge. To be a good parent and to raise a child is very difficult, especially when you are a single parent. In our society the challenges of life for single parents are severe, which makes it unpredictable. There are plenty of responsibilities for parents that a lot of young couple can’t even imagine. We see that a lot of couples are having trouble in their relationship, especially after having a child. It is not as it was mentioned in the writing that “if you have a dog it’s like having a child.” We should never compare an animal to a human. As a single parent you are having double responsibilities, it’s like being a mother and a father in one human body, which is not easy. Most couples are even not ready for any type of a relationship and no way for having kids. That’s why think twice before going towards the step to become a parent.

I became amother without wanting to or even knowing I wasbecoming one. I was ten when my mom found out she was pregnant, shewas not happy. I, on the other hand, was jumpingup and down like I was getting a new toy. I loved playing with dolls and took pride in being a mommy to them. When the new baby arrived, it was the toy of mydreams. I comforted him when he cried, fed andchanged him and gave him baths. I learned to be gentle and protective. I watchedhim grow and celebrated every little accomplishment he made. This little baby, cuteand innocent, taught me valuable lessons in patience and responsibility. We developeda bond that went deeper than the love a sister has for a brother. Inmy narrative essay I will share with youhow this particular toy taught mehow to become a mother.

My father has always an encouraging good advice for my life. I can’t remember any person in my life that had more significant influence on me than my father. Since I was a young teenager, he has been the driving force for my academic success and corrected my mistakes so that I can be able to accomplish things the right way. As I grew older, he treated me as a best friend. A remarkable person like my father is exceptionally beneficial. People tell me that reading is the road to realm of knowledge but I’ve learned from him; that many knowledge comes not only from reading but through experience and listening to successful persons in life morally and financially. I’m looking forward to share my worthy stories for the narrative essays. - 131 words

My Aunt Yalem had prefunded influence on my life. Back on my Home country Ethiopia when summer arrives, I used to live with my Aunt. She always encouraged me to take summer school so I would be well prepared as fall arrives. She is a very dedicated person both in her job and in her community. She took pride in helping others. Also, she is a very religious person. There is not a Sunday mornings that she spent her time in a church. She used to always say to me “life without faith is no life at all”. When I came to Canada about ten years ago is the last I sow of her. In my Narrative Essay, I am looking forward to projecting her unique personality and her influence on my life in vivid detail.

My grandmother had a great influence on my life. She still, to this day, helps me face people who want to take advantage of me. Now, she is my fairy godmother, always standing beside me and guiding me. She had wheat like complexion and white silky hair. She was like a coconut, hard outside but soft on the inside. Whenever I would be stressed, she used to peak over her glasses and inspect me, head to toe, judging my problem. Her good advice always solved my problems and made me strong enough. I miss my grandmother and the good advice she always gave me. I would like to share some of her good advice through the essay.

My father, Charlie, the head of our family had a strong influence in my meaningful life. During my childhood days, I had witnessed a devoted, loving and responsible father who loved work and home; moreover, I had seen a simple quiet type family man. Despite of few friends around him, I was impressed by his courage and determination; to help a struggling family, when no one except him was there to comfort them without hesitations. Through him I realized important things in life: respect, appreciation and knowing who your true friends are. I consider him as the best dad: a person I’m truly proud of. Although my dad and I are thousand miles from each other, his influence to value people or things in life will always be a part of me. There is no doubt in my mind that I’m truly inspired to reminisce and to share this one of a kind story of my father in my narrative essay.

I know that my older brother’s values deeply affect my life. We grew up together, but my older brother had a lot of bumpy life experiences. His school days were spent during the Chinese cultural revolution. Although he studied very hard, he was denied a chance to go to university because of those terrible times. He worked at a company after high school. But the company went bankrupt after he worked there for many years. He had to earn his own way in life. Nonetheless, I seldom heard him complain about life's injustices. Instead, he still optimistically and tenaciously faced the challenges of his life. Compared to my brother, I have a relatively smooth life, but with him as my role model, I have learned how to face and overcome life’s frustrations. - 132 words

No one else had more influence upon my life than my father had. He was the happiest person I’ve ever seen, always smiling and always joking, but above all he was a kind and an honest man. It didn’t take me too long to become his greatest fan. He saw the life as a divine gift, and for that he was in love with it. I’ve always asked myself where he got that joy of life from. He taught me everything he knew about respect and common sense, always wearing along the talking his beautiful smile. Since I’m his offspring, I like to believe that I inherited his spirit, too. Despite the fact that he died very young, at only 36 years (stomach cancer), I will always remember his teachings about life and his childish smile. Thank you God for let him being my father.

There are so many people that came into my life, that either supported me, or guided me throughout my life but, there is only one that actually changed it. My aunt, legally my sister, changed my life. If I remember it correctly, I was seven years old when it all began. Those were the time when my life change (I wanted to think that the change was for the better at that time). I never really knew my aunt that well because she's in Canada as I was growing up. We are so different from each other because she's loud, confident, and always the life of our family party (unlike me). But those differences gave me reasons to be better. I've always admire her bravery, because she's been to so many places (Kuquate, Singapore, Paris and Canada was the last stop) either a nanny or a housekeeper. It would be an honor to share how my life was change, through the narrative writing.

My sister Stella has always been a very influential person in my life. She took me under her wing after our mom had passed away; Stella has always been by my side through the good times and the bad. I must admit I wasn’t the easiest teen the easiest teen to deal with, but she always had faith in me and believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. Time has passed and sure we’ve aged but no one or nothing has or ever will come between us. Late at night before I rest my head, while I take a moment to say my prayers I truly thank the Lord for blessing my with such a wonderful, caring, loving sister and I would like to honor her by bringing some of our moments to life through my narrative essay.

When I have my own kids, I want to be like my dad. He is encouraging, and supportive. Without him, I would not be in here and would not be able to study in good environment. From high school to now, he is a driving force for my educational success and sports that I play. My father corrected my mistakes by giving me tips on how to approach and solve problems. After I graduated from high school, he treated me like a best friend. We shared our opinions on electronics and sports and new cars. Secondly, He is supportive on sport that I wanted to play. He let me join and play in the community hockey team. By his support, I was able to 28 points out of 30 games on one season.

Nazi has a special place in my heart; she had played a very important role in my life. Nazi is elder sister; there is eight years of gap in our ages. She and I are very similar I mean we both are quick learners, smart, talented, ambitious, and hard-working. When I drop-out of school, she always would say, "if I were your age and had the opportunities and the financial support like you have, I would have accomplished what I wanted to be in life. Now I'm back to school, because I don't want lose my chance or waste my time. Although, she is a mother of two kids, she went to hair- dressing school, and did a part-time job to pay off for the tuition. In my narrative essay I would elaborate more how she is continues making big impacts in my life.

Throughout of our life we are all influenced by our surroundings whether it is by our family, friends, or by society. The person who has had an incredible impact in my life is my brother Ahmad. He has always advised me how to have a "well management" in life. I believe I have gained many successes in life compare to many other men who are close to my age. To be more specific about my successes in life is that I have achievements in my studies; having completed my 2 years diploma in Business Management from BCIT and Licence Practical Nursing from Canadian Health Care Academy and currently working as a Nurse. My brother is part my success in life and without his advices and supports I might not in this stage in life. Therefore I strongly believe in well management whether in studies, work to financial and personal life that leads to success in life.
