Ghost World rules! How could you not love a movie where a teenage girl says, about a man 25 years older than herself, that “He's the exact opposite of everything I really hate.” Where else could you see Enid, the quirky protagonist of Terry Zwigoff’s film, trying out various disguises, turning herself “post punk” (complete with green hair) at one moment and then visiting her best friend, Rebecca at her barista’s job wearing a catwoman cowl purchased at the local sex shop the next? Enid’s no angel, but that’s what I love about her. She tells it like it is, saying to an astonished movie theater patron, that her popcorn is “smothered in delicious yellow-chemical sludge!” True, but how often does anyone ever really say it? She seems irredeemable but she’s not. When Seymour, her unlikely friend (and eventually, lover), says to her that he “can't relate to 99.9% of humanity,” she counters with, “I don't think it's totally hopeless.” And, in the end, Enid leaves behind (literally and metaphorically) the ghost world, travelling on the mysterious bus without numbers over the bridge and away. My friends would love a movie like this, I’m sure.—195 words

“Ghost World” is definitely a great movie for those who “never fit in” and most people living at a seemingly routine life, excluding some fans of evil-hunting, of course. I love this movie the way it tells its story, extremely smooth and temperamental. Unlike other big-budget American films, every bits of the plot just comes up like flowing water and truly stirs up one’s inside. Plus the character’s moulding is very successful and impressive. Enid, for instance, is an outstanding one. Like the rebellious daughter in her another movie “American Beauty”, Thora Birch’s amazing performance totally guides the whole movie. I am so indulging into her pure and authentic facial expression. Another is the guy, Seymour, whose “famous” line is that “can't relate to 99.9% of humanity”. He has that kind of mixed vein of persistent and timid, but behaves in his particular way. Also there are other distinctive roles, like art teacher Roberta, nunchakus Dung, waiter weird Al, who are all worth seeing more than once. Maybe “Ghost World” is not the best movie, but I’d love to share it with my friends, for this is the real film I am into it. (194 words)

Have you ever felt how weird this always changing world surrounding us is? I often do! When I first heard of Hip-pop music, I was stunned that the pop/rap music is not singing, but just like talking. Also one time, I met a person who brought rude to me for reading Chinese-newspaper in the library. Another time, a naked man was running on the street for our sustainable environment. It was so creepy! Look at the film, “the Ghost World,” It shows us a seemingly unnatural world, but, in fact, just like our real one. You can see that how the people play those incredible actions in the movie, and there are many similar unbelievable things are just happening in our life. Through Enid’s cynical eyes, we find out that Seymour, floating on the city, stirs up and down by the reality and desire; we see the astonishing way that the art teacher used to explain “the creative arts;” we also can look at the different, strange, passing by who contributes to his/her habit to color our society. I had surprised the kind of “different,” finally, I got used to the idea standing and accepting it. Maybe I’m the one that’s a stranger to others, who knows! Don't miss this special movie. Happily Confused

I would recommend the movie because is fun to watch. There is nothing more hilarious that seeing a human pretending to change the world. Enid is rebellious just because she doesn’t even find herself. And there she is criticizing and looking at everything as a ridiculous thing. It is interesting to see a person’s behavior under social pressure and internal identity conflicts because it helps us to understand different stages we have to go through as human beings. Enid is all I don’t want to be, but sill she is different, and has a very good sense of humor. I really like the movie because it inspires me to don’t be another Enid in the world. She has art in her veins but it seems that she will never find it, because she is unable to look for it. Ghost world is the kind of movie that gets me happily confused that is why I will recommend it.

I wouldn’t recommend this film to all of my friends for not all can accept and understand something new. “Ghost World” is a movie for people who can laugh at themselves, for those who tired of action movies about super heroes, and who remember what is like to be a teenager. This movie is for people about people. A very deep meaning about our presence, communication, and development as a society is hidden behind the outstanding sense of humour. Every single scene in the movie is meaningful. Details are thought through. Every gesture, every glance is not random, but played to puff more life into a character. Characters (professionally played by actors) are another reason to watch this film. They seem very real. While watching the movie you may find yourself comparing characters of the film to characters which you may have met in real life. And surprisingly you may find a lot of traits in common. This movie is a result of a hard work and professionalism along with a great plot. And I would recommend this movie to those of my friends who is willing to open their eyes and hearts to see more than just a picture a screen.

Girls on the Brink of Adults
At the beginning, I wondered why the movie named “Ghost World”. When I finished watching it, I think it reveals that the “real world” seems to be stranger than the “ghost world’. Enid and Rebecca are two best friends who just graduated from high school. They have difficulties in social attitude with other people. They want to find something fun to enrich their lives. One day, they play a prank on a lonely middle-aged man named Seymour who is a fanatic record collector. Gradually, Enid is attracted by Seymour because of his attribution to music, although he “can’t relate to 99.9% of humanity”. He becomes an unusual hero in her eyes. By contrast, Rebecca settles comfortably into a job at a coffee bar, suggesting the compromise that comes with assimilation into the adult world. Both girls are growing apart. Eventually, Enid catches a mysterious bus and disappears into the distance. This movie is a comedy having much funny setups, and it causes an imagined feeling in the end. It also has different kinds of music which are all interesting. I strongly recommend this movie.

I would definitely recommend “Ghost World” to some of my friends in fact I have already done so. A story about two young girls who just graduated and are trying to adapt to the world in which they are entering out of school, Enid is not having as much luck as Rebecca fitting in to her social environment, Seymour who is already a social misfit and Josh who is headed in the direction of Seymour. The reason I like this movie and would recommend it for its accuracy of expressing the way many teenagers feel and live. All the characters portrayed show how we all have to fit in somewhere, Enid who has the behaviour of acting on what others think, Rebecca who thinks out loud and doesn’t act on anything other than her goal of getting her own place, Josh Just trying to fit in as quietly as he can; however, two girls wont leave him in peace and Seymour a middle aged guy who is forced to accept meeting new people regardless of whether they like what he does or not. Ghost World is a movie I would not recommend to everyone. After watching it I immediately thought about the types of people who would appreciate the movie and the types of people who wouldn’t. Because it possesses such an unusual flavor I’m sad to see after reading reviews on various websites and blogs that there were people who chose not to like it for very surface reasons. They complained about the plot, the characters, the acting, and the overall visual layout of the film. I felt disappointed that people could not look beyond this to discover that the film was about so much more than a few colours or short hair. For me personally I felt a large part was about the development of characters individually and as a whole affecting the community around them. I have some people in mind I would recommend this movie to because I feel they would recognize and be pleased with its uniqueness. Much like Ghost World, everyone is conditioned differently, so with this in mind I will tell those who know that little detail about the movie and hopefully they will enjoy it as much as I did.

The matter of someone enjoying this movie depends on who you are and at part of your life you happen to be. I would have to say that, you have to have different, more eccentric, taste for life, to enjoy of the "Ghost world" movie. I personally enjoy these types of movies because of my personality and my different tastes in movies. Also, I enjoyed this movie because it was really funny and also gives you incite into problems in society, those problems faced by young people. Enid is a typical young girl who from the outside seems to have a very normal life but the way she interacts with society and deals with her needs are all strange and abnormal. She judges people from their behavior and doesn't hesitate one minute to react. Her differentiations become more noticeable when she becomes older because before her graduation she had planned with her best friend Rebecca to rent a place and live a normal life. But when she gets older she can not accept the rules. However; I probably recommend to my friends because is funny and educational too. (188 words)

"Ghost World" has been one of the best satire movies I had ever seen. Having the opportunity to study the protagonist (Enid) a controversial and rebellious teenager has given me a closer picture on how teenagers are feeling more isolated than ever before. Therefore, many of them are missing the meaning of “family” in our society. Nevertheless, Enid’s dad does not contribute as the greatest example to feel proud, even though he tries to understand his daughter in any sense. In addition, Rebecca, (best friend), Seymour (the lover, who is twenty five years older), Josh (the loyal friend), and the hilarious art teacher (Roberta) are the funniest, inimitable and genuine characters in this story. I will highly recommend this movie to any open minded parent. But, principally to those who has a teen at home, so it will provide them an opportunity to recall what a teenager really wants after graduating from high school. To finalize, “Ghost World” is definitely an odd movie, but that’s what it makes the excitement in this story to watch.
