RAY BRADBURY’s “Summer Ritual” shows me a worm, peaceful, and familiar picture of old-style life. People live together with their families like “grandma”, “great-grandma”, “uncle”, “grandfather”, or “some of the cousins”. They often spend a night “on shady porches” doing nothing except chatting that “wasn't important to anyone” or drinking some “lemonade or ice-tea”. Life may not easy but the night they spend together seems simple, easy, and happy. It recalls a beautiful memory of old time that we have lost for a long time.

"Summer Rituals" by Ray Bradbury vividly describes Douglas's participating in the summer ceremony of putting up a front-porch swing. To a young boy, repeated rituals mean the warmth, security and love he has felt all years in his family, and it is all epitomized in a front-porch swing. Things change, but there is always a continuity. A swing, seen in early summer by Douglas, will remind him about his childhood, for no one can take the sweet childhood memories and feelings out of the boy. Familiar moments will flash before him, seizing his heart.

"Summer Ritual" by Ray Bradbury shows a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere although this life is simple. It is just as the life I experienced when I was a child.Every summer night except raining night, almost all villagers went out to chat while they were eating. They had not TV, air conditioner, but they were happy. They worked hard, but they had no worries. After reading it,I missed my childhood very much.
