I believe that the more mistakes you make, the more improvements you will get!

Yi,

Yes, and even your teacher will (and does) make mistakes as well. It's our attitude towards our mistakes that is the key difference in improving ourselves. I hope to be a bit closer to perfection after another 20 years of teaching!

I find essay writing in general to be quite difficult. Following proper essay structure, trying to be creative, following all directions and time restrictions are all very stressful and cause me grief. I usually get frustrated or bored and give up, or quickly finish with no effort put into the essay.

Due to my ways, my english marks have never been very good and is a big reason why I am back to upgrade.

Before PALC, the last time I wrote an essay, and in fact, the last time I sat on a classroom desk as a student, was more than 20 yrs ago. And essay-writing was not one of my favourite activities. And when I did write one, I tended to write on broader and general terms. Now, I’m learning how to effectively organize, structure and focus on the topic for an essay. However, it will always be a struggle to come up with words, phrases and ideas, and be creative and interesting.

The biggest trouble I encountered was the content. The lack of attractive samples hauled down my marks. In addition, English usage is another headache.

Hao,

For examples, pay attention to news (and life in general!) The more you know generally, the easier it is to write an essay such as the one we have Friday. Good luck! For usage, the more use the better of course.
